I’m sorry about the paucity of posts – as you can see it’s hard to get anything done in New Orleans during Mardi Gras season. As the Laurel Street cottage is penned on three sides by parades for two weeks, well you have to plan everything out pretty carefully during the season. But it’s worth it to see all the fun unfolding around you.
Tonight is Orpheus – one of my favorite parades for sheer beauty. I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s day and wish you all a very merry Mardi Gras!

Welcome to the somewhat decorative blog! It's all about cooking, gardening, design and DIY in, out and around our 150+ year old cottage in New Orleans. Since the house always has something going on with it (or falling off of it) I'm blessed with a never-ending supply of Web content to share. Have fun and drop me a line anytime: laurelstreetnola@gmail.com

Thank you so much for posting this! It has been 4 years since we lived in NOLA and attended the parades and I miss it so much this time of year! The festivities in Shreveport pale in comparison, but we try! I can’t wait to see shots from Orpheus, have fun!
Orpheus was wonderful Christy – you should came visit New Orleans again soon! It’s just a short hop down the highway from Shreveport. Thanks for stopping by!
This is almost as good as being there again! Thank you Nathan for sharing a little bit of the flavor, fun, and fantasy!! Hope you’re “goin’ to the Mardi Gras” —
Thanks Karen – it’s all good fun. How’s the new store coming?
Wow, Drew is like h o t. How am I just discovering this now? Well, I only listened to the game between the Saints and the Vikings over the car radio. And we watched the Super Bowl in a public establishment where the TV was across the room and over my own shoulder. So I guess that’s how. I was in New Orleans for Jazz Fest several years ago. It was hopping then so I can only imagine the energy going on now! Have fun! Trina
Um – he’s a fine looking fella. And a real sweetheart. Come on back down for Jazz Fest Trina – it gets better every year!
