The Laurel Street Residents

by Nathan on February 7, 2010

Wherein the author enumerates and illustrates the five warm bodies that inhabit the Laurel Street cottage. You may consider me a model of self-restraint that I have waited over a year to post pet photos –  I just thought you all might like to see the supporting cast!

Ella, Louis (aka 'Louie') and Sister; Richard, Louis & Ella (with Lobsters); Ella & Louis (Cat Surveillance); Ella!!!; Ella & Louis in a pillow sharing situation.

Louis on the (now totaled) green sofa; Sister!!!; Richard & Louis Thanksgiving morning, 2004 - pre-Katrina.

Sister holding court on the green sofa; Richard, Louis & Ella - cooking lesson; Richard in Napa, Richard & Nathan (that's me!) at Gloria Ferrer vineyard Spring 2009.

But even better is this 3 minute video wherein Web site vistors are shown the overall level Laurel Street goofiness (filmed right after move in, 2006). A happy, crazy canine family.

What neat pets — what is Sister? I couldn’t tell. The boxers are cute. Love the “Cat Surveilance” — our Oliver does that as well (that’s his job — keep the cats OUT of the yard and away form the birds!) — Don’t you just love Blue Room!!!! We’ve been to Gloria Ferrer in California as well — it was a great place to visit!

Sister is a Rat Terrier that we inherited after a sad family event. I never thought I was a ‘little dog’ person – but she acts very much like a big dog and keeps those boxers in line!

They’re absolutely adorable! And the cat surveillance cracked me up as nothing creates such focused attention from our little Lucy as a cat or squirrel passing through the yard. Strange cars can pull up, unexpected knocks can occur at the door, a migratory elk crossing can take place…and Lucy will be lounging in her bed, uninterested. But a cat…or a midget squirrel – now that’s something that gets her out of bed! ; )Trina

Ha – I wish these three could limit their involuntary excitement like your Lucy! They’re ready and waiting to be exercised over any little thing ;-)

So much to say.

1. LOVE the new blog layout! Absolutely obsessed with the header!
2. I’m already such a sucker for dogs, and the cat surveillance is killing me! Too cute!
3. I think I only lasted about 1 week before posting pet pictures… They’re just too cute!

Thanks Erin! I think a site makeover was really overdue. Seems like the header is always the hardest part!

HA – I wondered if people would wonder about that. It’s actually “Snushk” which is a sneezy sound Louis makes a lot…

How cute! I adore boxers! I’m completely dog-crazy and it’s all I can do to not post a photo of my pups every day so I commend you for waiting a whole year! But they’re so cute I think they need to make a regular appearance. :)

Hi Ally – they will appear from time to time – it seems like whenever I’m trying to take a picture of something, they find sneaky dog ways to work themselves into the shot.

Ok, today I will actually remember to leave a comment only once! I watched the video with my dog, Remy(short for Lady Remington) and it was so cute and fun…until she heard the squeak-squeak and tried to lick my computer!

That’s so funny – Ella and Louis always look at me crazy when I play the video at home – like they’re trying to identify what other dogs are in their house and playing with their toys!

They are really adorable. A great first appearance. Next you will have to do that pets on furniture thing that Desire to Inspire do every Monday. Go on, you know you want to!

I was tempted! And I seem to have and unending supply of pets on furniture posts. I would love my house to have white linen slipcovers – but no dice with this crew ;-)

Hi Nate! Thanks for stopping by my place today.
Love what I’ve seen here so far (wow, that’s a lot of dogs!) and I will be back soon as I have more time to take a better look around.

OhMy… you’re killing me! We have an “Ella” too, and for years have been talking about getting Ella a sister named “Sister”!! Ella is a family name;), plus after college I had a friend who worked for Brennan’s in Houston, and I thought “Ella” Brennan was such a strong Southern name and woman, hence Ella!
We (Ella and I;) watched the adorable video and between the squeaky toy and you calling “Ella” over and over, my poor girl couldn’t figure out where you were! She would love to play with your pups!
Nice to meet you. I found you from Trina’s!

What a good looking family! We’re a multiple dog household here too. Two schnauzers, and a third that comes to stay from time to time. It’s often pandemonium, and an absolute pleasure.

I know what you mean about wanting white slipcovers. I’d like really beautiful bedding, but washability always seems to win.

I’m so thrilled to learn you have dogs+ too! Now, my goal is to be as dog-hair free as your place seems to be!
